Abuse detection across customers
Worklane operates a platform-wide security console. To detect an attack aimed at several customers at once — the same message sent to many workspaces, one source probing several — we compute a one-way cryptographic fingerprint (SHA-256) of inbound content and compare fingerprints across customers.
We store the fingerprint, the channel it arrived on, its length, and whether the sender was verified. We do not store the content itself, the sender’s name, or their address in this record, and a fingerprint cannot be reversed to recover the message. These records are deleted after 30 days.
This is deliberately a cross-customer comparison, and that is the point: no single customer can see that the same payload also reached eleven others. What our staff can learn from it is that two workspaces received identical content — never what that content was. We consider this necessary for the security of the service under GDPR Article 32, and it is described in the DPA (v2 and later). Detection records are never used for analytics, product development, or model training.
